Freedom Centre provides a safe social space, peer support, information and referral for young gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and questioning youth, under 26. It is run and coordinated by young, trained peer based volunteers and staff (18-26yrs) with management from the WA AIDS Council. Freedom Centre also provides services and information for professionals working with young people. WA AIDS Council

The WA AIDS Council offers services such as free confidential HIV and STI testing, safe sex education as well as support and referral services for people living with HIV. They also provide peer support and education targeting men who have sex with men and affordable means-tested professional counselling. Their counsellor is experienced in a range of issues including sexuality, gender issues, relationships, sexual health and living with HIV.

PICYS provides support to young people with long-term complex needs aged 16 to 25. They provide externally supported accommodation, outreach, mental health and drug support. The Chameleon Society of WA was established in the 1970′s and holds regular meetings at which men can cross dress and meet like minded people. Other social events are organized at both private and public venues for members to enjoy their cross dressing in a more public arena.

Gay and Lesbian Equality (GALE)

GALE is WA’s peak gay and lesbian rights lobby group, working to enhance and defend equality for the GLBTI community. GALE was instrumental in successful state gay and lesbian law reform campaigns in the late-90’s and early 00’s. WA Gender Project

The WA Gender Project is a lobby group for gender diverse people in Western Australia. It seeks to inform government and the wider community about the needs of people whose gender expression differs from societal expectations. In particular, the group seeks to represent the interests of transsexual, transgender and genderqueer people, as well as people with intersex conditions who identify as intersex and gender diverse youth. You do not have to be trans* or intersex to be involved, just gender-aware.

Country Network
Is an Australia-wide friendship organisation that has members all over Australia, including in both metro Perth and regional and rural areas of WA. The Perth Social Scene
The Perth GLBTI community is often unfavorably compared to those in Sydney and Melbourne and the GLBTI community is not immune to Perth’s “Dullsville” tag. However, Perth has everything any self-respecting gay man or lesbian could want, including a diverse range of social and sporting clubs and modern refurbished venues. As with any social scene you’ll get out of it what you put in.
Whether you’re new to Perth or exploring the gay “scene” for the first time the best place to start is the local GLBTI press. Perth is fortunate to have several high quality online and print publications which provide excellent articles and features, listings of social and sporting groups and up-to-date information on what’s happening at our venues.

If you have never been to a sex on premises venue before, be sure to let the staff at the sauna know and they’ll show you around. Also, you might want to check out a copy of the S Guide that tells you all about the saunas.
The WA AIDS Council operates a Sauna Sexual Health Service, providing sexual health education and confidential and anonymous testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses (BBVs). The clinic is open on Mondays fortnightly 3-5pm & 7-9pm, alternating between the two saunas. Call 9482 0000 to find out dates and locations.
